Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Delosperma ‘Ocean Sunset™ Violet’ has intense purple/violet blooms, borne in profusion to create spreading matts of jewel-like colour.

With much larger flowers than other ice plants, Delosperma ‘Ocean Sunset™ Violet’ is a real stunner. Drought tolerant, Ice Plants are perfect for quick-spreading ground cover on dry banks, borders and rocky sites. They also make easy-going container plants as their succulent foliage means that they don’t demand a lot of watering. Their long flowering period makes them good choices for small areas where space is precious and a long season of interest is essential.

Throughout summer they are so densely smothered in flowers that the foliage is almost obscured. The starry blooms are each about 1 inch across (2.5cm) and come in a range of shining, jewel-like colours. Height : 6" (15cm), Spread: 12" (30cm).

Pot up ice plants in sharply drained, gritty compost and grow them on in frost free conditions. When they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before transplanting into their final positions. Delosperma thrives in poor sandy, sharply drained soil, in a sunny, sheltered position. Add plenty of sharp grit to the soil prior to planting in order to improve drainage and prevent the roots from rotting.
Delosperma requires little maintenance. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings and feed every 3 weeks whilst in active growth.
