Dicentra are a cottage garden favourite that are commonly called Bleeding Hearts for their dangling spring blooms. These will make a fine addition to a damp and shady spot where they will return year after year. The foliage forms a spreading clump of finely cut leaves making a beautiful backdrop for its arching stems. These are the perfect addition to a damp woodland garden or shaded cottage garden borders. This collection comprises of Dicentra spectablis 'White Gold' – White blooms arch above chartreuse yellow leaves making a fabulous contrast with other spring perennials.Dicentra spectabilis 'Gold Heart' - Golden leaved variety bearing racemes of pink, heart-shaped flowers. 3 Jumbo Plug Plants (KB8834)

Pot up plug plants using free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting them outdoors. Grow dicentra plants in well drained, reliably moist, fertile ground in partial or dappled-shade. Dicentra prefers a humus-rich, neutral or alkaline soil. Improve soil conditions by adding plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost prior to planting.
In spring, apply a mulch of chipped bark or well-rotted garden compost to the base of the plant to help retain moisture in the soil during the growing season. Dicentras have particularly fragile roots and are best left undisturbed if possible. However, overcrowded clumps may be divided in late autumn or early spring if necessary.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
