Eryngium 'Magical Blue Globe' sends up silver-green stems topped with masses of small blue globes and surrounded by a spidery collar of green bracts. With a compact, bushy habit, this variety adds texture and colour to the front of borders. Cut some stems for a summer bouquet or dry the flowers of Sea Holly for using later on. Height: 50cm (20"). Grow sea holly plants on light, well drained soil in full sun. Eryngium plants particularly dislike cold, wet soil in winter which may cause the crown to rot. If planting on heavy soils, dig in plenty of coarse grit to improve drainage prior to planting.Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until plants are fully established. Leave faded eryngium flower heads in place until spring to benefit from the winter interest they will add to your borders.
