Erythronium dens-canis 'Purple King' will add a pop of purple to your beds, borders and containers! This hardy perennial has attractive mottled green, deciduous foliage, which provides the perfect backdrop for stunning star-shaped, nodding, pink-mauve flowers up to 5cm wide. This Dog's Tooth Violet flowering from April to May with blooms formed of delicate, outward-curving petals edged with yellow at the base, and long, purple-tipped white anthers within. Ideal for partially shaded areas, this clump-forming plant is great in cottage and woodland gardens, plus ideal for alpine and rockery settings. Height: 25cm (10"). Spread: 100cm (39").

Plant Erythronium in fertile, humus-rich, well-drained soil that remains reliably moist. Choose a position in partial shade.

Feed and water regularly until well established. Young plants will need protection from slugs and snails. Remove old foliage as it dies back in autumn. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring or autumn.
