Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Unique orange trumpet-shaped petals radiate from the pincushion centres, before fading to yellow in a blaze of summer colour. The sheer flower power and compact habit of this remarkable and unusual variety make Gaillardia 'Fanfare' a 'must have' for containers or filling gaps at the front of sunny borders. The distinctive blooms persist well into autumn, and make spectacular cut flowers for an indoor display. This low maintenance, hardy perennial is trouble-free and even copes well on poor, dry soils. Height: 35cm (12"). Spread: 45cm (18").

Flowering Months
Feed and water occasionally until plants are fully established. Deadhead faded Gaillardia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In Late summer, cut back old foliage and flower stems to 15cm (6") to encourage basal growth before the first frosts. In spring, lift and divide overcrowded clumps of gaillardia and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.
Pot up blanket flower bareroot plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before transplanting into their final positions in borders and containers. Grow gaillardia plants into any fertile, well drained soil in full sun.
