Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

The most floriferous of all hardy Gerberas, this new ‘Cheeky Collection' will keep smiling its vibrant blooms all summer long. These cheeky blooms come in a kaleidoscope of cheerful colours which really pop against each other.

The flowers are smaller than other varieties, but extremely abundant, and their daintier size means that they blend in better with herbaceous perennials than their more tropical-looking cousins, so they’re perfect for using as long-flowering border plants. But they are equally top-performers for containers. Petite but prolific, they make cute patio specimens, remaining neat and compact, with their vibrant blooms attracting bees and butterflies. Cheeky but tough, these hard-working plants are low maintenance – they’ll shake off poor weather and shouldn’t trouble you with any pests or diseases. Flowering from June until the first frosts, there will be plenty of spare blooms for the vase so you can enjoy their bright colours indoors too. Height and Spread: 30-35cm.

Gerbera garvinea 'Cheeky Collection' contains the following varieties:

  • Gerbera garvinea ‘Cheeky Orange’
  • Gerbera garvinea ‘Cheeky Pink’
  • Gerbera garvinea ‘Cheeky Magenta’
  • Gerbera garvinea ‘Cheeky Red’
  • Gerbera garvinea ‘Cheeky Yellow’

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Pot up gerbera plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When they are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before transplanting into their final positions. Plant gerberas outdoors in fertile, well drained soil in sheltered, sunny borders. When growing gerbera in patio containers, use a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2.
Feed and water gerbera plants regularly throughout the growing season. Cut back faded gerbera flowers from the base of the stem. In autumn, move containers of gerbera to a bright, frost free position for the winter. Reduce watering, keeping the compost just moist during winter months. Gerbera plants will require winter protection if grown in borders outdoors.
