Description How to Grow Delivery

Comprising six stunning and versatile perennials chosen for their eye-catching golden or variegated foliage or bright yellow blooms, this beautifully harmonising collection of golden-themed perennials is sure to brighten any border, container, rockery or herb garden. There’s a plant for every corner of the garden!

Golden Yellow Tones Colour Collection comprises jumbo plugs of the following varieties:

  • Ajuga ‘Golden Beauty’ – a stunning variegated bugle whose scalloped evergreen foliage is beautifully edged in creamy yellow. Young leaves are pinkish bronze in colour. Short, stout spikes of deep lilac-blue flowers are produced in spring. This tough creeping perennial makes ideal ground cover or underplanting, or a lovely addition to a woodland garden or mixed container, thriving in part to full shade. It prefers moist but well-drained soils, though is tolerant of both very moist soils and dry periods. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 50cm (20in).
  • Lamium maculatum ‘Cannon’s Gold’ – Lamium or dead nettle (non-stinging!) are very useful hardy perennials. Tough and resilient, they thrive in shade on almost any soil, making ideal ground cover or a must-have addition to a woodland or wildlife garden. ‘Cannon’s Gold’ is a stunning variety with bright golden-green toothed foliage. In summer, the clusters of bright purple-pink flowers provide a rich supply of nectar for pollinating insects. Provided it is watered until established, this attractive dead nettle is a great plant for tricky spots in dry shade. Its ideal conditions are moist but well-drained soil in partial or deep shade. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 60cm (24").
  • Salvia officinalis ‘Icterina’ – a stunning variegated sage that provides year-round colour, with each leaf generously painted with bright golden green. Holding an RHS Award of Garden Merit, this aromatic evergreen shrub makes a fabulous addition to well-drained borders and container displays. Leaves are a useful culinary herb. Short spikes of lilac flowers, loved by bees, may be produced in summer. Thrives in full sun and a free-draining soil, showing good drought resistance. Height and spread: 40cm (16").
  • Sedum rupestre ‘Angelina’ – forming a low carpet of bright yellow or golden-green needle-like leaves, tinged with orange in autumn, this eye-catching evergreen stonecrop makes a superb addition to rockeries, stone walls and drought-resistant container schemes, as well as making great edging or groundcover for a dry spot. Clusters of starry yellow flowers are held on upright stems in summer. Thrives in poor or medium soils in full sun with good drainage. Height: 15cm (6in). Spread: 60cm (24in).
  • Thymus ‘Golden Queen’ – a very pretty and vigorous variegated lemon thyme that excels as an ornamental as well as an edible. Each leaf is daintily edged in yellow to give a shimmering effect. Forming a compact little bush, this hardy evergreen produces short spikes of lilac-pink flowers in summer that are highly attractive to bees. Given a sunny spot with good drainage, this versatile herb will thrive in beds, containers, rock gardens, stone walls and even cracks in paving. Leaf colouring intensifies in winter, making ‘Silver Posie’ a lovely addition to winter and spring container displays. Thrives in full sun and a free-draining soil, showing good drought resistance. Height: 15cm (6"). Spread: 25cm (10").
  • Viola ‘Sorbet’ – prolific, free-flowering and very winter-hardy violas that will give months of colour from spring to autumn. This reliable perennial has a neat, uniform habit that is perfectly suited to hanging baskets, window boxes and containers. Thrives in sun or part shade in moist but well-drained soils. Height: 20cm (8"). Spread: 23cm (9").

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
