Gunnera manicata is King of the gardening world, thanks to its giant evergreen leaves that can reach 1-2 metres across! This variety will look seriously impressive in any garden, although it may not be suitable for smaller gardens due to its sheer size.

Fondly known as Giant Rhubarb, Gunnera plants are ideal for waterlogged spots as their reflection in the water is spectacular. This holder of an RHS AGM is durable, architectural and sure to be an attention-grabbing addition to your garden. Height: 2.5m (8'). Spread: 4m (13').

Gunnera manicata requires a moist, boggy soil, either in sun, part shade or full shade with shelter from cold, drying winds. It is important to consider the ultimate size of this large, robust perennial when planting.
Cut back the old foliage in autumn and cover the crowns of Gunnera plants with a dry mulch of straw to protect them over the winter months.
