Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Hebes come in all shapes and sizes, grown as much for their foliage as their flowers. We’ve brought together 6 of our favourite foliage varieties in one collection to give you evergreen colour, summer blooms and year-round garden interest. These low maintenance shrubs flourish in well drained, sunny sites and even cope well in challenging coastal areas. Perfect for borders, rockeries, patio pots and wildlife areas where their nectar rich blooms will feed hungry pollinating insects.

Hebe collection compromises:

  • Hebe ‘Mrs Winder’ – Dark-red young foliage matures to green in summer, and decorated with pretty spikes of purple flowers that are loved by pollinating insects. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 150cm (59").
  • Hebe ‘Silver Anniversary’ - An elegant evergreen shrub that is grown for its beautiful variegated foliage and contrasting purple stems. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 75cm (29").
  • Hebe ‘Purple Shamrock’ - Slender green and cream splashed foliage is tinted bright purple-pink in spring with purple-blue flowers borne sparsely in summer. Height and spread: 60cm (24").
  • Hebe ‘Bronze Glow’ - Lilac flowers are borne in profusion in early summer, with a second flush in autumn. As winter approaches, the leaves turn an eye-catching bronze colour that persists through to spring. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 60cm (24").
  • Hebe ‘Red Edge’ - Sculpted grey-green leaves that boast a slender red margin when young. Fluffy clusters of early summer flowers are pale lilac, slowly fading to white as the season progresses. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 60cm (24").
  • Hebe ‘Midnight Sky’ - A handsome variety with glossy evergreen foliage that turns bronze-black in winter. Dark green foliage and mauve purple flower spikes, which are borne freely throughout summer. Height: 75cm (29"). Spread: 100cm (39").

Grow Hebe plants in moist, well drained, light sandy soil. Avoid planting Hebes on acid soils. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade with sheltered from strong winds.
Water well after planting. Once established Hebe plants require little maintenance other than an occasional trim after flowering to maintain the shape of the plant.
