Hellebores are a vital addition to the winter garden - adding their colour alongside snowdrops, aconites and the early spring bulbs. As their common name indicates, the ‘Christmas Rose flowers extremely early in the year, and is sometimes in flower for Christmas. At home in shady borders, they make an ideal ground cover beneath trees and shrubs. Hellebore ‘Single Pink Spotted' has distinctive flowers, with a pattern of dark pink spots across each paler petal. It's cup-shaped flowers are long-lasting, and Hellebores form neat clumps that are as attractive in large pots as they are in the flower beds. Height and spread: 45cm (18").

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. Grow hellebores in a dappled or semi shade position in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Hellebore plants prefer neutral or alkaline soil. Add well rotted garden manure or other organic matter to improve very heavy clay or free-draining sandy soils.

Water regularly until established. Cut back old foliage in spring after flowering and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plants. Try not to disturb hellebore plants after planting as they may take some time to re-establish. If necessary, move plants in the autumn.
