Flowering Months
Water hellebores regularly until established. Cut back old foliage in spring and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plants. Try not to disturb hellebore plants after planting as they may take some time to re-establish. If necessary, move plants in the autumn.
Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. Pot up hellebore plants and grow them on in warm frost free conditions for transplanting into borders and containers later on. When all risk of frost has passed and plants are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Grow hellebores in a dappled or semi shade position in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Add well rotted garden manure or other organic matter to improve very heavy clay or free-draining sandy soils.
