Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

The Frostkiss series of hellebores are distinguished by their gorgeous, marbled foliage which almost rivals the blooms in beauty and gives these late winter flowerers all year round interest and appeal. The leathery, deep green leaves boast fine cream marbling which is flushed with lovely pink tones in spring. These cultivars are renowned for their prolific flowering and large, nodding blooms of up to 7cm across which come in a range of exquisite colours all highlighted by the central boss of yellow stamens. These hellebores make a welcome addition to woodland gardens and shaded borders interplanted with other early spring flowerers and bulbs where they will provide a valuable source of nectar for early emerging insects. They also make charming patio plants for winter containers. Height and Spread: 60cm (24”).

Hellebore Frostkiss Collection comprises 3 x Jumbo Plugs which include one of each of the following varieties:

  • Helleborus Frostkiss ‘Glenda’s Gloss’  – Single flowers with a pink magenta edge which bleeds delicately into the white petals.
  • Helleborus Frostkiss ‘Pippa’s Purple’ – Single flowers in a dusky burgundy  .
  • Helleborus Frostkiss ‘Penny’s Pink’ – Single flowers emerging light pink and turning deeper as they age.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow hellebores in neutral or alkaline soil, in dappled shade. Hellebores prefer a moist, humous rich, fertile soil that does not dry out in summer or sit waterlogged in winter. When growing hellebores on heavy clay or free draining gravel soils, add plenty of well rotted leaf mould or other organic matter to the soil prior to planting.
Mulch hellebore plants with well rotted manure or garden compost each spring. Hellebores resent disturbance after planting and may take some time to re-establish. However when clumps become overcrowded, lifting and dividing of hellebores should be undertaken immediately after flowering. Caution: Hellebore sap may irritate the skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
