Ice white, semi double blooms stand out beautifully against the lobed, bright green foliage. This elegant deciduous shrub is prized for its exotic looks and late summer flowers that bring colour to the garden just when many plants are beginning to fade. As the name suggests, Hibiscus syriacus 'White Pillar' has a slender, columnar habit that makes this hardy shrub particularly useful for smaller gardens, narrow borders or patio containers. Height: 2m (79”). Spread: 60cm (24”).

Grow Hibiscus on rich fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil, in full sun. When growing hibiscus plants in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3.

Feed and water hibiscus regularly until fully established. Apply a dry mulch such as bark chips to the base if the plant in autumn to protect from winter cold. Prune hibiscus in late spring, removing any stems that have died back or been damaged over winter. Hibiscus are often one of the last shrubs in the garden to break bud, so be patient with plants that are slow to start into growth in spring - they may remain dormant until May!
