Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
If you have a difficult shady area to fill in your garden then a Hosta or two is the ideal solution as they can cope with dry shaded borders or moist, damp and dark borders. Hosta fortunei var. aureomarginata is quick growing and clump forming so you'll soon be rewarded with a display of weatherproof, ribbed leaves that are edged with golden yellow followed by pretty bell shaped flowers during the summer borne on 90cm (36") stems. Perfect for ground cover in difficult shady borders. Height: 55cm (22"). Spread: 100cm (39").

Culinary information: The best part to use is the hoston, the rolled up leaf as it emerges in the spring. Cooking depends on the size of the hostons, small ones can be fried for a few minutes, going well in stir fries. Thicker ones are better boiled and used as a vegetable. 2 hosta plants in 2 litre pots (V59078P)
1 x 2 litre potted hosta plant (57843)

Plant Hostas in sun or dappled shade on well drained soil. Slugs and snails are particularly fond of Hostas so it is worth providing young plants with some protection while they establish.
In autumn, remove old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Lift and divide Hosta plants in autumn every third year to maintain their vigour.
