The Lacecap Hydrangea is a beautiful garden shrub that loves moist soil and slightly shaded sites. This graceful plant grows into a magnificent mounded form bearing many flattened flower heads with colour-changing abilities! The clusters of florets appear in July and August and are surrounded by larger flowers which can be pink, mauve or blue, depending on the pH of the soil. If you want blue blooms you will need acidic soil but if you prefer a pink tone you will require soil that is neutral to alkaline. Hydrangea 'Lacecap' looks great towards the back of a border and blends well with different types of Hydrangeas. Height and spread: 3m (10’). Supplied in a 9cm pot.

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. When growing hydrangeas, choose a sunny or semi shaded spot that is sheltered from cold winter winds. Plant in borders in rich moist, well drained soil. Add plenty of well rotted manure to improve heavy clay or light sandy soils. Alternatively plant hydrangea in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.

Feed and water container grown plants regularly. As plants increase in size they will require repotting into increasingly larger pots. In autumn, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of border grown plants. Prune after flowering removing any rubbing, damaged or diseased stems and reducing stems to maintain a permanent woody framework.
