From early summer, brighten up your borders with the star-shaped vibrant flowers of our Ixia Mixed. Soft, delicate blooms emerge in an array of colours atop wiry stems. These half-hardy bulbs thrive in sunny borders, greenhouses, containers, or in a sheltered spot at the base of a wall. Simply lift Ixia bulbs each autumn and store them through the coldest months, before replanting in the following spring.

Flowering Months
Water Ixia bulbs sparingly until the flower spikes appear. Increase watering as the blooms develop, and feed with a liquid fertiliser every few weeks. Reduce watering after flowering to allow a dry dormant period as the foliage dies back. Containers of Ixia bulbs should be moved to a frost free position over winter. Bulbs grown in borders outdoors should be lifted in autumn and stored over winter, before replanting in late spring the following year.
Plant Ixia bulbs in gritty or sandy, well drained soil in full sun. Plant each bulb at a depth of 12cm (5"), and a distance of 8cm (3") apart. Corn Lilies are half hardy, and require protection from frosts. If grown in borders outdoors, choose a very sheltered, sunny position. Alternatively grow them in greenhouse borders, or containers which can be moved to a frost free position during cold periods.
