Hardy Japanese Anemones are beauties of late summer border. Their slender upright stems rise above attractive clumps of dark green foliage. Clusters of rounded bubs unfurl to reveal wide-open blooms which attract bees and other pollinators to the garden. These elegant herbaceous perennials are surprisingly easy to grow, thriving in sun of part shade. Essential for creating cottage garden borders or adding late summer colour to Japanese gardens!

Anemone Duo comprises:

  • Anemone x hybrida 'Whirlwind' - White, saucer-shaped blooms stand rise on tall, sturdy stems in the late summer. Height: 1.2m (4'0"); Spread: 1m (3'3").
  • Anemone hupehensis var. japonica 'Prinz Heinrich' - Glorious deep pink semi-double flowers which burst from beautiful buds, then gently fade in colour as the summer season progresses. Height: 75cm (2'6"). Spread: 60cm (2'0").

Pot up Anemone plants and grow them on until plants are large enough to be transplanted into their final positions. Plant your Anemone plants out on moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade. Plants are generally unfussy and, once established, will last for years, although try to avoid excessive winter wet.
Cut back anemone flowers as they fade. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of anemones in spring or autumn. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.
