Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
The elegant, graceful fronds of this colourful fern are quite remarkable. Tending to be greenish in colour during their first year, they soon develop wondrous hues of slate grey and silver with distinct purple markings. This hardy fern makes a sophisticated addition to shady borders and woodland gardens, or can be grown in containers in a cool greenhouse or conservatory. If you are looking for something different, then this beautiful foliage plant is perfect! Height: 30cm (12"). Supplied as 30mm plugs.

Pot up plugs into 9cm pots in and grow on in a shaded situation until large enough to plant in their final positions. Water regularly and feed every two weeks. When large enough, plant Japanese Painted Ferns out in borders or conservatory containers. Choose a position in dappled shade in moist, acid or neutral, fertile soil. They prefer a soil rich in organic matter so add some well rotted manure or compost to the soil.
Feed and water plants regularly until they are fully established. Apply mulch of well rotted manure around the crown of each plant in autumn or spring.
