Small and compact in size but big in impact in any garden, Lavender 'Bandera' is a perfect dwarf French Lavender plant. Its multiple branching habit means it will be covered in flower stems in summer, a sea of blue with the characteristic scent that we all know and love. This hardy little plant is perfect for using as a low hedge or boundary marker, as part of an alpine display or in containers too! Height: 20cm (8”). Spread: 20cm (8”). Height and spread:20cm (8").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Premium perennials are large plug tray plants, roughly the same size as garden ready plants like a potted plant without a pot. They will need to be acclimatised to the garden, and once all chance of frost has cleared can be planted out directly into the garden.

Pot up plants using free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. Once they are well grown, acclimatise French lavender plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out on free draining soil in full sun. French lavender is slightly less hardy than it English cousin and will appreciate a sheltered position, such as the base of a warm wall.

Lavenders dislike wet ground, particularly during winter. Improve heavy soil conditions by adding coarse grit or sharp sand prior to planting. When growing French lavender in large patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. After planting, prune lavender plants to encourage bushy growth.

Water regularly throughout summer until lavender plants are fully established. Once established, they are reasonably drought tolerant. Immediately after flowering, prune French lavender back to within 2cm (1") of the previous year’s growth to maintain a compact, well shaped plant.
