Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

This magnificent Magnolia Patio Collection contains two of our best patio magnolias which will perfectly compliment each other in borders and patios.

Often flowering twice a year, Magnolia 'Red Lucky' Patio Standard makes a superb specimen plant. The white petals, flushed on the outside with deep pink markings, appear in spring and again in late summer. This exceptional deciduous magnolia requires little maintenance making it ideal for growing in a large container on the patio or as part of a decorative border display.

Magnolia 'Sunrise' has magnificent, goblet-shaped white flowers with a distinctive red flame pattern. Grown as a standard, this hardy and compact magnolia makes a superb focus point for smaller gardens and woodland planting schemes.

Height: 180cm (71"). Supplied as bare root plants with 100cm (40") stems.

Why not make sure your Magnolia Patio Collection has the best start in life by upgrading with Chempak® Yearlong Fertiliser which only needs a single feed for a continuous controlled release of nutrients for your magnolias for the whole year!

Culinary note: The young flowers, once separated, can be pickled and then used either on their own as a treat or in salads. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Flowering Months
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until young Magnolia plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. Magnolia standards require little pruning other than to maintain their shape and remove damaged stems.
Choose a sunny or semi shaded position that is protected from cold winds and hard spring frosts. Magnolias prefer a moist, well drained acid to neutral soil that is high in organic matter. If you don't have acid soil, incorporate plenty of ericaceous compost into your border prior to planting. Plant bareroot Magnolias at the same depth as they were previously planted. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. If your magnolia arrives with shoots coming out below the grafts, then prune off shoots below the graft to enable the magnolia to flourish.
