  • Place seed on the surface of a good seed compost. Do not cover the seed.
  • Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag and keep at 20-25°C (68-77F) until after germination which takes 3 weeks. Do not exclude daylight as this helps germination. Keep the compost on the dry side at all times.
  • Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots.
  • Grow on in cooler conditions for a few days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart, or transplant into planters.
  • Roots can be invasive so restrict by growing in containers or sink pots into the garden.
