Add structural focal points to your summer borders with this fabulous collection of Miscanthus grasses. These low maintenance perennials produce tall plumes of flowers above clumps of arching foliage from late summer. The blooms are long lasting, with seed heads that remain intact well into winter and look fabulous when added to cut flower arrangements. Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 100cm (39"). Supplied in 9cm pots.

  • Collection comprises:
  • Miscanthus 'Purpurascens' - Tall stems topped with feathery plumes of rich copper red look magnificent above clumps of narrow, green, arching foliage.
  • Miscanthus sinensis 'Silberspinne' - Spidery panicles of bronze tipped flower-spikes that slowly fade to silver as they mature.
  • Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus' - Distinctive arching green foliage striped with horizontal cream bands.

Flowering Months
Feed and water Miscanthus plants regularly until fully established. Cut back dead foliage and stems to ground level in early spring before new growth appears. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Miscanthus grass every third year to maintain their vigour.
Grow Miscanthus grass in fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun. Maiden Grass resents soils that sit wet in winter. Prior to planting, improve drainage on particularly heavy soils by incorporating plenty of well rotted compost and grit.
