Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Add an exotic touch to your garden with this vibrant collection of oleander standards. These showy, evergreen shrubs produce sweetly fragrant flowers in a mixture of colours atop contrasting stems of leathery, dark green, lance-shaped leaves. The abundance of pretty blooms are produced throughout summer and well into the autumn, and are followed by bean-like seed pods. Nerium standards are perfect for patio containers, as specimen plants in borders or in coastal gardens, where they withstand salt spray well. Despite Oleander’s subtropical origins, these fantastic varieties are hardy down to -6°C (21°F)! In particularly cold areas grow Oleander in containers which can be moved to a protected position during the winter months. Please take care when handling Oleander as contact with the foliage may irritate the skin. Oleander is toxic if eaten. Supplied in 3 litre pots with an overall height of 80-100cm (31-39"). Eventual height: 1.5m (5'). Spread: 90cm (35").

  • Collection comprises:
  • Oleander 'Pink' - Light pink flowers with splashes of cerise.
  • Oleander 'Yellow' – Creamy coloured blooms with yellow centres.
  • Oleander 'White' – Brilliant white flowers.
  • Oleander 'Red' – Vibrant, rich red flowers.

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, toxic if eaten. Plant Oleander plants directly into their final positions in borders and patio containers. Plant Nerium oleander in a sheltered spot in fertile, moist, well drained soil in full sun. When growing Nerium standards in containers use a loam-based compost such as John Innes No.3. Oleander plants are hardy down to -6°C (21°F). In particularly cold areas they are best grown in a patio container that can be moved to a sheltered position over winter.
In areas with severe winters move patio Oleander standards to a cool, bright position under cover, and protect border-grown specimens with horticultural fleece. Lightly prune Oleander shrubs in late spring to remove any shoots that spoil the shape of the plant. Reduce the stems to fit the available space, and remove any damaged, crossing or wayward stems. If necessary, Oleander plants will tolerate occasional hard regenerative pruning. Deadhead faded Oleander flowers regularly to prolong their display. Take care to wear gloves and long sleeves when pruning Oleander as contact with the foliage and sap may irritate the skin.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
