Oriental Lily in white zinc churn

Indoor-grown oriental lilies need as much sunlight as possible to flower well – a south-facing windowsill is ideal. Several hours of direct sun a day will give best blooming. Water regularly to keep the compost moist but not soggy or sitting in water – a good guideline is to water whenever the top of the compost feels dry. Allow any excess to drain away. Deadhead faded flowers, leaving the stems of green leaves intact. Cut the stems back to the base once the leaves turn yellow or brown. Overwinter the potted bulbs in an unheated porch, shed or garage to encourage successful blooming the following year, or plant outdoors once flowering has finished. Feed once a year with a slow-release feed.
