Juicy, sweet and stringless, these 10cm (4in) crisp, flat pods are a marvellous way to eat peas. They’re ideal added to stir-fries or for steaming lightly. This variety has good resistance to powdery mildew and gives a good harvest throughout summer. Height: 90cm (35"). Spread: 25cm (10").

  • Sow seeds every 10 days to ensure successional crops.
  • Sow 5cm (2in) deep in flat-bottomed drills spacing about 2.5-5cm (1-2in) apart, and in rows 75cm (30in) apart.
  • Water plants regularly, especially when in flower as this will improve the crop. Start picking pods just as the peas inside start to form, regular picking will encourage further cropping and improve the flavour.
  • Harvest beans from June to October.
  • Mangetout peas and their pods are high in potassium, and are a good source of vitamins A, C, B1 and folic acid, and contain soluble fibre, useful in removing harmful cholesterol.
