For late summer colour and a long display of pretty pink flowers, Penstemon ‘Kilimanjaro’ is a perfect choice. The flowers on this dainty Penstemon are rose pink with a white and pink centre. The semi-evergreen foliage has a neat upright habit and continues to look tidy in the border even through the winter months. This long-lasting performer is attractive to wildlife too. Penstemon plants dislike cold, wet soils in winter. Plant them in a well drained site, adding compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay soils. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade.

Feed and water Penstemon plants regularly until they are fully established. Cut back faded Penstemon flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure around the crown of each plant in autumn or spring. Avoid pruning back old foliage until spring arrives, as this will help to protect the plant during winter.
