Beautiful and useful, Persicaria amplexicaulis 'JS Caliente' is a refined, clump-forming hardy perennial with none of the thuggish traits of its invasive cousins. Caliente is the Spanish word for hot, describing the deep red colour of its flower spikes, which are produced in profision on upright stems from July to October. A robust and low maintenance Bistort that will flourish almost anywhere in the garden, 'JS Caliente' has broad, bright-green leaves that make great ground cover and suppress weeds. Adaptable and trouble-free, Persicaria amplexicaulis 'JS Caliente' is ideal for mixed borders, cottage gardens and wildlife areas, where it will attract pollinators with its bold red blooms. At up to 70cm (28") tall it will mix beautifully with late summer perennials and grasses for a dramatic late summer display.Height: 70cm (28"). Spread: 70cm (28").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Persicaria prefers a fertile moist soil, but once established, will happily tolerate most conditions from boggy soils and pond margins to drier conditions. Plant Bistort in sun or semi shade.
Once established, Persicaria is undemanding and requires little attention. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in autumn or spring to maintain vigour and keep plants within their allotted space.
