Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Right through summer and into autumn, the upright stems of the striking Cape Fuchsia are decorated with delicate lantern blooms of coral orange. Although Phygelius hail from the exotic climes of South Africa, they are surprisingly hardy in the milder regions of Britain. They thrive in mixed herbaceous borders or on patios. Where the climate is generally mild, and winter protection is given, Phygelius ‘Pheeges Festive Orange' makes a lovely semi-evergreen shrub for sheltered borders. Height and Spread: 60cm (24").

1 x 2 litre potted phygelius plant (57872)

Grow Cape Fuchsias in sheltered, sunny borders in fertile, moist, well drained soil.
Feed and water regularly until plants are fully established. Phygelius plants grown in the border will benefit from winter protection such as an autumn mulch of chipped bark or leaf mould. Container-grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Cut back old stems at the base of the plant in spring to promote the development of new growth. In very mild areas where the stems are not damaged by cold winters, Phygelius may be grown as a semi-evergreen shrub, requiring only light pruning of the stems in spring to improve the shape of the plant.
