Polystichum setiferum ‘Herrenhausen’ will thrive in drier soils where other ferns won’t survive but its robust nature is disguised by delicate, finely-divided foliage which creates lacy rosettes. Unlike most other ferns, it is evergreen, providing a long season of interest and smothering weeds all year. It is perfect for foliage contrast in spring borders where it associates beautifully with spring perennials and spring bulbs which can pop up in the gaps between its emerging young fronds. Height and Spread: 60cm (24”).

Plant ferns in a sheltered spot. Choose a cool position semi-shade or dappled shade on fertile, moist, acid or neutral, soil. Hardy ferns prefer a soil that is rich in organic matter so add some well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting.

Feed and water ferns regularly until they are fully established. Apply mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the crown of each plant in spring.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes, etc. are delivered at the appropriate time for planting or potting on. Delivery times will be stated on the product page above, or in your order acknowledgement page and email.

Orders for packets of seed incur a delivery charge of £2.99.

Orders which include any other products will incur a delivery charge of £6.99.
