Like a giant version of the traditional field Poppy, this richly coloured annual is perfect for adding quick and easy colour to bedding and borders. Plus, the eye-catching scarlet petals fall away to reveal decorative seed heads, great for drying.

However the seeds produced from Papaver somniferum and Papaver paeoniflorum can be eaten and are used for adding extra flavour, crunch and bite to breads and cakes. The seeds of other poppy species are not edible. For more details about edible flowers click here.
