Grow summer fruiting raspberry plants in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Plant this dwarf variety at a distance of 50cm (20") apart. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. When growing dwarf raspberries in containers, plant 1 raspberry plant per 10 litre pot, or 3 to a 40 litre pot.
The short stems of Raspberry 'Ruby Beauty'® need little support, except to prevent particularly heavy crops from bending the canes.
Water summer fruiting raspberries well for the first year until plants are fully established. When berries begin to develop, place a net over the plants to protect the crop from birds. In autumn, prune the canes which have fruited over the summer to ground level leaving the remaining canes in place for the following year. Aim to have 6 to 8 fruiting canes per plant. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes in spring. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer.
