This pretty Polyantha rose is swathed with deep red scentless flowers in large clusters during summer. The red blooms are borne on well branched stems and set amongst glossy green foliage that is resistant to disease. Rose 'Red Fairy' is a neat, compact variety that will make a showy patio shrub or a welcome addition to a sunny border. The attractive blooms will make excellent cut flowers. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 100cm (39").

Culinary information: Some parts of these flowers are edible. Rosehips and petals can be used in making syrups and the petals will add flavour to cold drinks or fruit dishes. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning Polyantha roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
When growing roses, choose a position in fertile well drained soil in full sun. Roses are greedy plants so add a small handful of granular fertiliser and mix some well rotted manure or compost to the soil prior to planting.
