Runner Bean Super Trio Mixed is a fantastic mix of runner beans moonlight, firestorm and tenderstar. No matter what the weather masses of tasty pods will be produced. This mix includes 12 plants with 4 of each variety. Moonlight is a unique French Runner Bean cross that produces masses of self-fertile flowers ensuring a good set even when poor weather arrives along with a bumper crop of stringless smooth pods. Firestorm has an abundance of self-pollinating red flowers which is a cross of French and Runner Beans. Large numbers of high quality 25cm (10") long stringless pods are produced which are winners of the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Tenderstar is a newer variety of a French and Runner Bean cross that will produce 18-20cm (7-8") long pods throughout the summer regardless of the weather. The crop is tender and full of flavour and will produce bicoloured red and pink blooms.

Grow runner beans outdoors in rich fertile, well drained soil in full sun or semi shade with protection from strong winds. Avoid freshly manured soil which will promote lush foliage instead of beans. Plant runner beans in rows that are 1.5m (5') apart, or where space is limited, grow beans onto a wigwam structure. Runner beans require support from garden canes, strings or netting which should be put in place at the time of planting.
When growing runner beans provide a thick mulch of organic matter around the base of the plants to help conserve moisture and reduce weed growth. Water runner beans regularly, particularly as the flowers develop, and provide a liquid feed every 14 days during mid-summer. Pinch out the tips of the beans when they reach the top of their supports. Beans can be harvested from July onwards. Pick the beans regularly and a little on the young side to ensure top quality and prolonged cropping. Culinary note: Suitable for freezing. Caution: Cook runner beans before eating to avoid discomfort.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
