Salvias are definitely back in fashion and these new varieties are hard to resist! The open-mouthed flowers contrast beautifully with their black buds and stems, creating a beguiling display that will last all summer. These compact Salvias boast attractive, heart-shaped foliage that makes them superb container plants. In borders they form neat clumps, mingling elegantly with other summer perennials. Ornamental Sages are versatile – plant them on the patio, in cottage gardens, exotic schemes or wildlife areas where they are irresistible to pollinating insects. Grow these half hardy Sages in containers that can be moved to a frost free position during winter. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Salvia Duo comprises:

  • Salvia Salgoon 'Lake Tahoe' - A long lasting display of mauve-pink flowers.
  • Salvia Salgoon 'Lake McKenzie' - Deep blue flowers burst from black buds.

Height Up to 45cm (18in)

6 salvia jumbo plug plants (3 of each variety) (KB8537)

Pot up salvia plants into pots of free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. When all risk of frost has passed and plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Plant salvias outdoors in moist, well drained soil, and situated in full sun.
Feed and water regularly until fully established. Although perennial, this Salvia will require some winter protection in all but the mildest areas of the UK. If growing it in containers, it can be moved to a warm greenhouse or conservatory over the winter months. Prune lightly in late spring when new growth appears to remove dead stems and maintain a bushy habit.
