Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
An unusual ice plant with a vigorous, compact habit. Sedum 'Abbey Dore' has attractive blue-green and later develops pink stems in late summer. The pretty pink buds open to reveal pale-pink and cerise flowers that are a magnet for pollinating insects. Ice plants are perfect for adding late summer colour to the front of hot, sunny borders. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 30cm (12"). Size 1 bare roots supplied.

Caution: All parts are harmful if eaten. Plant Sedum plants, at the earliest opportunity after delivery. Should soil conditions prevent planting directly into borders (if soil is frozen or waterlogged), bareroots should be potted up, watered sparingly and grown on in a cool position for planting out at a later date. Choose a sunny position in fertile, well drained, non acidic soil and work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Dig a hole wide enough to accommodate the bareroot with its roots spread out and deep enough that the crown of the plant is just a few cm below soil level. Backfill the hole with soil and firm the plant in gently. Leave a slight depression around the plant - this will help to direct water towards the roots. Water well to settle the soil.
When growing sedum, water regularly during particularly hot dry periods and until the plants are fully established. Leave faded flowers in place; the dried Stonecrop seed heads make an attractive late summer feature. In autumn, cut back old stems and foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of ice plants.
