Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Bright yellow goblet-shaped flowers burst into bloom in autumn, just as the rest of the garden is beginning to fade. These free flowering bulbs make a real splash of colour in well drained borders, rockeries and containers. For a really natural effect just scatter a handful of Sternbergia bulbs and plant them where they fall. For the best results, grow them on sharply drained soil, avoiding ground where that lies wet in winter. Height: 15cm (6”). Spread: 8cm (3”).

Flowering Months

10 sternbergia bulbs (kc1114)

Grow Sternbergia in any well drained garden soil in full sun. Sternbergia bulbs should be planted from midsummer to autumn, in large clumps at a depth of 15cm (6”) and at a distance of 7cm (3”) apart. Alternatively grow them in containers or naturalised in grass.
Allow the strap like foliage to die back naturally after flowering. Avoid mowing areas of grass where bulbs are naturalised, until they have completely died back.
