Brassica rapa var. rapa. Flatter, globe-shaped roots with purple crowns and white bases, ideal as baby turnips when the taste is sweet and succulent. Dark green, erect leaves are ideal steamed as 'greens'. Turnip Atlantic is ideal for growing in containers.
Companion planting: Try growing turnips with Nasturtiums to draw cabbage white butterflies away from your crop, and mint to help deter flea beetles.

Sow seeds from March to August. Sow seeds thinly direct outside or in containers, 13mm (1/2") deep. Sow regularly for fresh roots throughout spring, summer and autumn.Thin as necessary for small, succulently sweet roots.
Keep well watered during dry weather.
