Like plum pudding and custard, this delicious duo goes perfectly together! The butter yellow blooms of Verbascum ‘Dark Eyes’ softly contrast with the violet flowers of ‘Lavender Lass’, whilst both have matching dark centres.

Unlike some varieties, these are neat and compact, reaching only 30cm (12") tall – perfect for adding a vertical accent to the front of borders where its blooms can be really appreciated. These delightful little mulleins are highly attractive to pollinating insects and make a useful cut flower. An easy to grow hardy perennial that works well in cottage garden planting schemes. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

Pot up plugs and grow them on in cool, frost free conditions until plants are well established. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days. Plant Mullein into well drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Verbascum will thrive on poor, gravelly soils.

Established Verbascum plants require little maintenance. Deadhead faded flower spikes to encourage more verbascum flowers to be produced. On very fertile soils, verbascum will grow larger in size and the tall flower stems may require staking with garden canes. Cut back the old stems at the base of the plant in autumn.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above. Plants, bulbs, corms, tubers, shrubs, trees, potatoes, etc. are delivered at the appropriate time for planting or potting on.
