- Sow seed on the surface of good free draining, damp seed compost and apply a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite.
- Seal container inside a polythene bag and keep at 15-20°C (59- 68F) until after germination which usually takes 2-3 weeks. Do not exclude daylight as this helps germination.
- Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle, into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Grow on in cooler conditions for 10-15 days before planting out 23cm (9in) apart.
- Overwinter September sowings in a coldframe or cool greenhouse and plant out the following spring.
