Caution: harmful if eaten. Plant Scilla bulbs from late summer to autumn. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade in rich-fertile, well drained soil. Scilla prefers a soil that is rich in organic matter so add some well rotted manure or compost to the soil. Plant scilla bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4"), with the pointed end facing upwards. For natural looking drifts, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!
When growing Scilla bulbs, it is essential to allow their foliage to die back naturally, to feed the bulb for the following year. Avoid mowing areas of grass where bulbs are naturalised until their foliage has completely died back.
