Eccremocarpus scaber 'Chilean Sunset'

(Chilean Glory Flower)

Tender Perennial

This Chilean glory flower is an exotic looking climber with wonderful, fiery orange, tubular flowers that look like blown glass lamps. This quick growing RHS AGM climber will quickly cover a trellis or cling to a conifer hedge to add colour and interest throughout summer. In mild areas Eccremocarpus scaber 'Chilean Sunset' will die down in winter and, given a little protection, will re-appear stronger the next year. In cold areas it is best grown outdoors as an annual, or planted in containers that can be moved to a frost free position during winter months. Height: 3m (10’). Spread: 1m (3’). Supplied in 5cm pots.

Repot Chilean glory vines and grow them on in warm frost free conditions until large enough to transplant into their final positions. When Eccremocarpus plants are well grown, transplant them into large patio containers that can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Alternatively, in mild areas, Chilean glory flowers can be planted in fertile, well drained soil outdoors. Choose a sheltered position in full sun. When growing Chilean glory flowers, be sure to provide the twining stems with an appropriate support such as a trellis.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Move containers of Chilean glory vine to a frost free position over winter. Prune Eccremocarpus plants in early spring to fit the available space.
