An almost impossible hybrid between the Christmas rose (Helleborus niger) and stinking hellebore (Helleborus foetidus); the result of which is this fabulous new variety which starts flowering in early winter and continues through until spring! Slim, elegant stems bear pendent green blooms with a pink blush, above leathery evergreen foliage. Hellebore 'Winter Bells' is a delightful addition to the front of borders, woodland gardens or patio containers where it’s incredibly long flowering period adds interest for many months. Height and spread: 30cm (12"). Supplied in 5cm pots. Ceramic pot not supplied.

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. Pot up hellebore plants and grow them on in warm frost free conditions for transplanting into borders and containers later on. When all risk of frost has passed and plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Grow hellebores in a dappled or semi shade position in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Add well rotted garden manure or other organic matter to improve very heavy clay or free-draining sandy soils.

Water hellebores regularly until established. Cut back old foliage in spring and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plants. Try not to disturb hellebore plants after planting as they may take some time to re-establish. If necessary, move plants in the autumn.
