Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

Long pendulous flower spikes drape like exquisite chandeliers from the flowering stems of Cape Fuchsia 'Funfare Collection'. Specially bred for a neat and compact growth habit, these impressive Phygelius plants are free-flowering and easy to grow, making an exotic addition to tropical themed patio pots and borders. In mild parts of the UK they may be grown as a semi-evergreen shrub if winter protection is provided. However in most parts, where cold frosts cut back the tender stems in winter, it is best grown as a perennial. Supplied as plug plants. Height: 40cm (16"). 50cm (20").

  • Collection comprises:
  • Cape Fuchsia 'Funfare Coral'
  • Cape Fuchsia 'Funfare Orange'
  • Cape Fuchsia 'Funfare Wine'
  • Cape Fuchsia 'Funfare Yellow'

20 Plug Plants (5 Of Each Variety) (V56806)

Pot up plugs into 11cm pots and grow on in warm conditions. Pinch out the growing points where stems have more than 2 sets of leaves, while the plants are still small. This will encourage the plants to produce more stems, making a bushier plant with more flowers. When all risk of frost has passed and phygelius plants are well grown, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a 7 to 10 day period. Grow Cape Fuchsias in sheltered, sunny borders in fertile, moist, well drained soil.
Feed and water regularly until plants are fully established. Phygelius plants grown in the border will benefit from winter protection such as an autumn mulch of chipped bark or leaf mould. Container-grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Cut back old stems at the base of the plant in spring to promote the development of new growth. In very mild areas where the stems are not damaged by cold winters, Phygelius may be grown as a semi-evergreen shrub, requiring only light pruning of the stems in spring to improve the shape of the plant.

Van Meuwen strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3.
