(Purple Coneflower)

Hardy Perennial

 Customer Review Rating
Well known for its use in herbal medicine, the large purple daisy like flowers of this hardy perennial, provide a wonderful display in late summer. The weather resistant blooms of the coneflower make an attractive cut flower. Make sure you leave some flowers for the wildlife in your garden; butterflies love their nectar and birds will flock to dry Echinacea seed heads at the end of the summer! An excellent choice for dotting through borders! Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 45cm (18") Supplied as bare root plants.

Grow Echinacea plants in a sunny or semi shaded situation. Choose a position in moist, well drained soil. Echinacea plants prefer a deep, fertile soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until Coneflower plants are fully established. Deadhead faded flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, remove old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.
We will do our best to ship your plants or bulbs to you at the ideal time for planting as stated against each product. We recommend that you prepare your soil, planting beds or patio containers ahead of time so you are ready to plant out, or pot on, just as soon as your order arrives. You will find the name of the variety printed on the top line of the address label on your package. Please ensure that you open the packaging immediately and carefully read through the instruction leaflet provided. For greatest success, please pot on or plant out as soon as possible, following the cultural instructions enclosed with your order.

  1. Wonderful Quality

    By Julie Goodwin 21-08-2011

I received ten of these Echinacea as a free gift offer at the beginning of summer. As they were quite small, bare root plants I didn't expect much from them this year. Amazingly enough they are flowering wonderfully. They have grown on in leaps and bounds and look like providing a lovely late summer/early autumn colour splash. Will definitely get more of these next year, in a few differing colours maybe. Many thanks!
