Choose a sunny or semi shaded position that is protected from cold winds and hard spring frosts. Magnolias prefer a moist, well drained acid to neutral soil that is high in organic matter. If you don't have acid soil, incorporate plenty of ericaceous compost into your border prior to planting. Plant Magnolias at the same depth as they were previously planted. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. Alternatively plant Magnolia standards in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season until young Magnolia plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. Magnolia standards require little pruning other than to maintain their shape and remove damaged stems.
We will do our best to ship your plants or bulbs to you at the ideal time for planting as stated against each product. We recommend that you prepare your soil, planting beds or patio containers ahead of time so you are ready to plant out, or pot on, just as soon as your order arrives. You will find the name of the variety printed on the top line of the address label on your package. Please ensure that you open the packaging immediately and carefully read through the instruction leaflet provided. For greatest success, please pot on or plant out as soon as possible, following the cultural instructions enclosed with your order.

After purchasing 2 of these standard magnolias I am very disappointed. What is shown on the offer is not what you receive. The order comprised of 2 sticks with roots.
I will be asking for a refund as the offer is very misleading. Unhappy and feel very let down. Never again!
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment with your purchase. We do state that the plant will be supplied as a bareroot plant of 1 meter in height. The pictures shows the plant at full growth.
If you are unhappy with your purchase and would like to receive a refund, please contact our Customer Care Team at care@vmplants.

We bought 2 of these standard magnolias a few months ago, one has show signs of life and has sprouted leaves, where as the other resembles a large potted stick. There is no life in it whatsoever. £40 for a magnolia tree and a twig!! Contacted Customer Care Team but didn't even gat a response.
