New Gigantomo - the world 's biggest tomato
The new disease-resistant variety is the result of almost two decades of research and development by breeders in the UK and the US. Simon Crawford, one of the UK's leading plant breeders, was called in five years ago to finish the work of late American grower Paul Thomas, who spent 15 years trying to breed the huge tomato. 'Gigantomo'® can reach over 6ft tall, producing fruits up to 10 inches wide and 3lbs in weight, which can be harvested from mid-summer. It is available as both seeds and plants.

Can you grow the world's biggest 'Gigantomo'®

tomato?

That's right, it's simple, grow the world's biggest tomato from a 'Gigantomo'® plant and you could win £3,000 at the National Gigantomo® Championships, held at the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show (15-17th September 2017). There is a top prize of £250 for the heaviest fruit and a further £3,000 if the fruit weight breaks the current world record which is held at 7lb 12oz. The Harrogate Autumn Flower Show is staged at the Great Yorkshire Showground and hosts two large shows for pristine exhibition fruit and veg, as well as their less glamorous giant cousins. It is also home to Britain's biggest exhibition by specialist gardening groups featuring over 5000 spectacular autumn blooms, plus show gardens and stunning plant nursery displays.
