This colourful deciduous shrub will add a bright splash of pink foliage to your garden borders. Rounded leaves cloak its upright stems to form a neat, bushy plant. From late spring, this showy Barberry produces a host of tiny yellow flowers that attract pollinating insects to the garden. By late summer, scarlet red berries have taken their place, standing out nicely against the bright foliage. Berberis thunbergii 'Chiquita' is hardy and reliable, needing no special care regimes. Perfect for adding a colour contrast to mixed borders. Height: 100cm (39"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Plant Berberis in full sun or partial shade, on a reliably moist, well-drained soil. Barberry plants are extremely resilient and will grow on many different soil types, except waterlogged.

Berberis require little maintenance once established. Trim back the stems lightly after flowering, removing dead or damaged growth at the same time.
