Lavender 'Munstead'

Lavendula angustifolia (English lavender)

Hardy Shrub

 Customer Review Rating
A cottage garden classic! Brush past its evergreen foliage to release the intense perfume of this compact lavender. Its delicate purple blue flowers held on stiff stems, attract bees and other insects; they also make excellent cut or dried flowers. Grow Lavender Munstead in containers, as a low hedge, or to soften paths and patio edges. Just be sure to plant it where you can savour its beguiling fragrance! Height: 45cm (18"). Supplied as 30mm plugs.

Pot up plugs into 7cm pots and grow them on until large enough to plant outside in their final positions. Plant outside in a sunny site on free draining soil. Lavender particularly dislikes wet ground during winter months so incorporate plenty of coarse grit or sharp sand when planting on heavy clay soils. When growing lavender in patio containers, use a well drained soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Water well and position in full sun.
Feed and water until plant is established. Once established, lavender plants are reasonably drought tolerant and will seldom require attention. Prune Lavender stems back to two buds immediately after flowering to promote bushy growth and a multitude of flowers the following year. New growth can be lightly shaped in March if necessary.
We will do our best to ship your plants or bulbs to you at the ideal time for planting as stated against each product. We recommend that you prepare your soil, planting beds or patio containers ahead of time so you are ready to plant out, or pot on, just as soon as your order arrives. You will find the name of the variety printed on the top line of the address label on your package. Please ensure that you open the packaging immediately and carefully read through the instruction leaflet provided. For greatest success, please pot on or plant out as soon as possible, following the cultural instructions enclosed with your order.

I was very pleased with the way these plants arrived. Very Healthy and at such a good price. All I had to do was pop them out of the box and into larger pots and 4 weeks on they are now much larger and will be planted outside soon. Very impressed
