Acer 'Orange Beauty'

Hardy Tree

The fiery foliage of Acer 'Orange Beauty' creates a riotous explosion of orange-yellow leaves in spring that colour to shades of red and gold in autumn. Japanese maples make magnificent focal points for shaded, sheltered spots in the garden where their delicate foliage is protected from strong sunlight and drying winds. Ideal for borders and large patio containers. Height and spread: 3m (118").

Pot up acer plants and grow them on in cool frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside in their final positions. When plants are well grown, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions before transplanting them in borders outdoors. Grow acer in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dapple shade, with shelter from strong winds which can scorch the finely cut leaves. Alternatively grow acers in large containers using a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until acer trees are well established. Protect plants from strong winds. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems if necessary from late autumn to midwinter.
