Acer palmatum ‘Seiryu’ is a beautiful tree that is perfect for medium sized gardens. This Japanese Maple is ideal for gardens with a Japanese theme, but also suits a wide range of garden styles, including rockeries and also as a specimen plant in a large planter, within a courtyard.

It has an upright, columnar habit, with delicate light green foliage in the spring and summer. In autumn the leaves turn fiery red and yellow. It requires a sheltered position, protected from harsh winds. This Acer is also best planted in a semi-shaded or shaded area, avoiding full sun. Height: 7m (22’). Spread: 3m (10’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

1 x 9cm potted acer plant (KB2329)

Grow acer trees in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade, with shelter from strong winds which can scorch the finely cut leaves. Alternatively grow acers in large containers using a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
Water regularly throughout the growing season until acer trees are well established. Protect plants from strong winds. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems if necessary from late autumn to midwinter.
